Hay, got a case 470 disel tractor. In good shape
what are they worth? Can"t make my mind keep or to sell. What years did they make them? Like the tractor It"s a little bigger then I need. got any info on this tractor?

They"re basically an updated 430 that was built from "69-"72. Value all depends upon the condition and features of the tractor Diesel usually demands more than gas. Usually an 8 speed or shuttle transmission is preferred over a 4 speed, and axles over the standard hubs. However I have an exceptionally nice original 430 gas standard that I paid dearly for at auction, despite the fact that is only a 4 speed. If you would be lucky enough to have a factory roll canopy, add $1000.00 or more, they are rare. I"ve seen 470 tractors sell between $1500.00 and $6500.00. Also, almost all are wide fronts, so if you happen to have a narrow or tricycle front it would be odd, maybe not more valuble, but odd.

Only 1808 produced so yes, they are in the rare catagory. Haven't been to a ton of shows the last couple of years and only seen one. It should be a keeper!

This tractor is in florida think i"m the second owner. It is a 4 speed but there is another hole marked s on the forward left of the shift pattern. Also it has a rops or roof wide front not sure about the hubs/axels. What is the s in the shift pattern? Also there are two control levers on the right beside the seat wich are factory and are connected to a hyd pump and are two way controls.

HAY THANKS!!! IT IS 4 SPEED WITH A HI/LO BOX THERE IS A S IN THE FORWARD LEFT OF THE SHIFT PATTERN BUT NEVER HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET IT IN THAT HOLE.DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE S IS FOR?
IT IS A WIDE FRONT WITH ROPS NOT SURE ABOUT THE AXEL/HUB BUT THERE ARE TWO TWO WAY CONTROL LEVERS
ON THE RIGHT OF THE SEAT THAT ARE FACTORY AND CONNECTED TO A HYD PUMP. GOT ANY INFO ON ANY OF THIS? HOW DO YOU TELL ABOUT THE AXEL/HUB?

If you have a 4 speed with a hi/lo range, it"s what I referred to as an 8 speed. The "S" is a start position. If wired correctly there is a switch in the transmission cover, and the gear shifter must be in that position , or the starter will not work. The gear shifter will normally go about half way into that position, just enough to keep it there. I"m just guessing that your switch has been disabled.

Standard hubs are welded onto the ends of the axle and will not adjust. General purpose hubs clamp onto the axles and can be used to adjust the rear wheel spacing.

The two hydraulic levers should be connected to valves mounted under the fuel tank. One valve is for a pair of rear outlets, and the other was plugged from the factory. the plugged valve could be used for a loader or other attachment.

thanks jason. I could not figure the s in the shift pattern. Is there parts out there for the pto it works but it was in a crate when I got it and seems like some thing was not right.

Yes, there are pto parts avalible from Case IH. But like most things, they're not cheap. I replaced the the special bearing with the built in seal last year, and it was $100 just for the bearing. You can look at parts diagrams on the case IH site to see what is missing.
