Case 530 - open or closed hydraulics?

Simple question, I want to get a 3 pt log splitter for my 530. Are the hydraulics open or closed center?

prolly wont work our hyds. arent fast enough to run one so ive been told and we have never tried just for that reason

I run a pipe press on my 830 just fine....most times at idle unless I am doing 5 inch then it is a little off idle. They are Open Center hysraulic systems.

I haven't been around Rock Island tractors very much, but I always thought the Racine tractors had pretty good hydraulics for the time. I know an SC or DC could run a splitter just fine.

The Rock Island tractors use about the same psi as the SC and DC but pump less gallons per minute. Probably better than an axe.

I believe the system to be an "open center" design that is rated at 1200-1300 psi and 9 gallon per minute. - Joe

I have a 430 that runs my 3pt log splitter. It has a open center hyd. system.

Thanks for the help. I'm looking at the Countyline splitter sold at Tractor Supply and it says it can generate up to 22 tons but I can't find anywhere what pressure is required to generate the 22 tons.

Find the diameter of the hydraulic cyl, prolly 4". multiply 3.14xradis squared. that will give you the surface area in square inches. multiply the psi of your hydraulics by the square inches of the piston. that will give you total pounds of pressure. divide that by 2000 and that will give you tons of pressure. Welcome back to 8th grade. Seems very simple to me but when I do this I find the splitters are usually advertised In a very misleading way. If it is 3 point how could they know the tonnage without knowing the pressure of your hydraulics? Maybe the 22ton sticker is the name of the splitter and we all just confuse it for the rating since we are not lawyers.
