case 730 pto

I have a case 730 and it is suppose to have a 540-1000 pto. I engaged it the only way I could (down) and I think it was 1000 pto. Can somebody explain how it works.

The best I remember is that 730 had a 540 PTO unless someone made an aftermarket kit for it. I"m pretty sure it was only one single speed availability also.

Lamonte would be correct on the 730 being 540 only. Don"t know if someone ever tried putting the 70 series reduction shafts and lower dual speed shaft assembly in a 30 series casting or not but there was never a two speed on the engagement lever as your post seems to inply. mEl

BTW, they all engaged and locked up either early or late 730's. mEl

If it is a comfort king tractor it could have had a 1000 rpm unit installed from a 1030. It would then have the 1 3/8" 21 spline shaft in it instead of the 6 spline.

Must recant my post, the 730 Ck did indeed push ahead to engage. mEl
