case 800

I just got an early Christmas present..a Case 800..gas with a case-o-matic..it was used for pulling....I am new to these kind of tractors and am finding it hard to get info...can anyone tell me what years they made them and what other years with interchange if any...thanks

The serial number is the key. With out that lil plate you'll mostly get guess work.

Mr Larry...thanks for the reply...after all these years of loving everyone elses tractors now I have my own...luckily this tractor has the lil plate your refering to intact...it reads
model 811-B and has another # 8121096 ...this is my first experiance with a Case and I am lost...

The serial number says it is a 1958 year.

And what a good year 1958 was. I have a 801B and a 802B which are both 58's. Also have a 1959 812B and a 702B.

how do you know its a 58...I have tried for days to find out and everyone said there was no way to tell.....please give me some advice on books and other places to find information and maybe some pictures...mine has a tricycle front end and I can't seem to find any pictures online...you guys have been great...this tractor has only been sitting for about a year or so...we haven't tried to crank it yet but this is the prodject I have been dreaming of for a long time....I really appreciate all your help

All Case tractors with a serial numnber that begins with 812 was made in 1958. Number 814 was for the year 1958 and so on. I think!

Trina,
Not trying to be offensive but since you have this comment "this is my first experience with a Case and I am lost" in your post I felt some commentary about the case-o-matic was appropriate. It is the maligned transmission system I know of, which is the result of the inability of people who own them to understand how they work. All that said, once you're used to it you'll be able to do things you can't do with a dry clutch tractor. The primary thing to remember is to do all your gear changes at low throttle settings, add throttle and be a bit patient as the torque converter picks up the load. There is no "slipping" the clutch with the clutch pedal, it is simply a hydraulic valve connected to the foot pedal that when released with a high throttle setting will result in a bang very similar to doing a neutral drop with your car. Do all your "slipping" with the throttle. Also, use the direct drive clutch after the load has been picked up. Since you just acquired this tractor I would also recommend changing the the oil and filters in the case-o-matic system, or at least giving them a good look see. In reality it is an excellent system

Why would a tractor with a plate showing its model as an 801b have an 830 hood on it. Maybe wrong hood? Or is their a different explanation.

My great uncle purchased one of those new in 1959. My uncle still uses that same tracor. The thing is awsome. He plows, disks, bales, picks corn, combines oats with it every year. I have no idea how many hours are on it because the tach broke years ago but I can tell you it's a lot. The engine has never been touched. You purchased one heck of a tractor.

Mr. DenNMs..I am also in Ms. but looking at the picture you posted I am confused by the mountains in the background....I am glad to see your tractor is a tricycle type...as is mine..I have only had it for a week and am so excited to start working on it...we have several tractors but this will be our first pulling tractor and our first Case....yours is awesome...is yours gas or diesel?...could you recomend a good book for reworking refrences...

not puchased..it was given to me by someone who hadn't cranked it in a year and when I fussed at him for letting sit in the rain...he told me to take it home....

BLR...thank you so much for your input..I am so glad you mentioned it..I am at a complete loss with this transmission..the gentleman that gave me the tractor has offered to help me learn it but any tips will be so appreciated..I plan on using it as a pulling tractor..that is what it was used for in the past...we have not tried to crank it yet because it has not been cranked in about a year..I plan on draining the fuel tank and having it cleaned the oil has been changed..anything else before we start her up???

well I guess I should post a correction....the 800 Case that I mentioned in this post we have discovered was originally an LP tractor..( now gas)..so we believe..... after contacting one of the original owners...this is not an 800 or an 811-B but an 830...I don't know if this is a good thing or not.. but I still luv her..I still don't know what horsepower she is...does changing from lp to gas change the horsepower???
