someone please give me a straight answer....when I ask what horse power my tractor is I get several answers...from 45 to 75...how can I find out the truth????

Trina,
Take your serial number to the tractor registry section of the site. Input the information. Also when you look up specs for it according to the serial number you'll find the info that you are looking for. U should be able ot look up production numbers and a ton of other information.

This may not be right but the way I understand it is this. The 800 is the series of the tractor and there are a number of different models ranging in HP from 53 up to and around 70Hp For instance a 811C gas is rated at 53HP and a 870 gas is rated at 71HP. So to be able to say for sure you need to get some numbers off of it

The factory rated PTO horsepower is about 50, which is about the same as the old 400 at 251 cid. Engine displacement for the two is identical. I've seen several on a dyno and at the end of the day a stock, well tuned 251 gas most likely won't get to far above 55.

The Nebrasks rating on the 800 is 54.42 for the diesel and 51.45 for the gas model... Gene

He gave the model number as an 800, so will not be confused with an 830 or 870, which are all later models. 800 models can be 800,801 or 802 if diesel and 810,811 or 810 if gas

There are more differences between the 400, 700 and 800. True, the gas engines are all 251 cubic inch. Early 400 diesels used the same 251 diesel, while later super diesels used a 267 cubic inch engine, basically the same as the 700, 800 and 730 series, though the heads are different for each series.
Main difference between the 700 and 800 was that the 800 had a torque converter and ran the engine faster to get more power.
The 400 was 49 horsepower and the 700 was 51 horsepower. The 730 series were 56 to 57 horsepower range... Gene
