I"ve got a 1964 Case 830 on propane and was considering switching it to unleaded is this even possible I"ve heard of people switching to diesel. If possible how much power would I lose.
Any suggestions?Anyone

i have propane tractors like them real well yes they can be change to gas need carb tank power wont change much also need diff hood jerry

I prefer LP over gas or diesel.Once you get everything up in good condition they are just about trouble free.I grew up with a 311b propane that has 10-15 thousand hours and the lp system has not been touched.
I like to inspect the fuel strainer/shut off solenoid if it has one and replace all hoses and install new shut off and filler valves.I usually dont mess with the converter or carb unless needed. If the tank has a dial gauge I will make sure it works and replace the gasket.
Lp will not go bad like gas.If you drain the cooling system for any length of time the diaphram in the converter will dry out.
I am no LP expert, but have used them since I was big enough to operate a tractor.
Just my 2 cents worth. Nick

I bought a 65' 830 propane and coverted it to gas because I did not have an easy way to refuel it. I was told it would have more power with the LP heads burning gasoline.

Get a 300-500 gallon nurse tank with a bottom plug for a hose hookup -get a hose with tractor tank connections - have a local supplier of lpg fill it have an old time lpg fuel user show you how to fill your tractor. You'll like it.

We now have four LP tractos, and I love them. The carbs don't get gummed up just sitting around, and they start easy with one battery, unlike some diesels. Give the LP a chance, you will learn to like it. I have a LP tank and I just do a gravity fill. We just have ours as collectables, so I just have a 50gal tank. If your're actually going to put it to work, I'd get a larger tank with pump. I have a couple LP suppliers near me that helped me out some in the beginning, but it's pretty simple. Plus your tractor will have more value left as an LP, collectors like me frown on conversions.
