Case 930 diesel started wiring

Evening,

I picked up an old Case 930 with round fenders last week for cheap, Was told it was running when parked. I think someone was messing with it as when i got it there was no wires hooked to the started solenoid anymore. I have looked in my manual for wiring but there is a few different versions of the diagram and it is void of any specifics. I seem to have three wires coming across, One goes through a circuit breaker i believe. It seems as though the tractor gets it's accessory power from the solenoid as well. Is that correct?

Hi:

Gas or diesel? Normally there are 3 wires to control the starter and one wire to power the starter. Battery cable to one side of solenoid and one power wire to starter. Then 2 smaller wires to trigger starter. One wire from key switch and one wire to activate starter.

Some individuals may tap into a power wire on the solenoid as a convenience but usually it is done thru the key switch for auxiliary connections.

Sorry, its a diesel. It has main battery power, and battery power
going to pre-heat coming off it. The battery power feeds starter
solenoid and nothing else so i was thinking the wire that feeds
the circuit breaker must be attached to same terminal as battery
power but no idea which of the other two go where. There is an
oil pressure sensor below starter also with the wire half missing
so maybe one of the wire was for it.

Diesel, ok, then one power wire for pre-heater would be normal. You refer to a "circuit breaker", what are you referring to as usually there is none? Also is your solenoid mounted on the starter?

The wiring is very basic as it is generally the same for all trucks, cars, tractors, etc. One small wire from the key switch which causes the solenoid to activate (second small wire) the starter. To test which wire has power when key is in start position.

Secondly if you apply momentary power to one small pin on solenoid and see which pin activates starter.

Oil sender is just a grounding method. If you touch bare wire to ground and gauge pins to max or light come on then you have purpose for wire.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the picture, do you happen to know wire colors on your solenoid. I have a yellow on the S terminal, main battery and preheat are on big post and nothing on R terminal, my understanding was that terminal was for gas motors. I did get it ti turn over with key to tonight by holding the two extra wire on the main battery terminal of solenoid. It even tried to fire a little and smoke with the little fuel that was still in pump.

OK I went back to school and studied the difference between my diesel tractors and have to correct what I sent you. Could not find anything on early 930. This picture is of a 930 CK but may be still what you have. The wires from left to right are: battery, heater solenoid, ignition power (10 gauge), starter solenoid. Wire colors are faded but might have been both red or the one on the right, yellow. This tractor ran when parked. lol
