case di carburetor

O.K, i am scratching brain, here is the deal, I got carb rebuilt, i installed, with a loader on the machine, it is a little pain in the rear, anyway, the choke is almost closed for it to run, and messin with it , i cant get to run with choke open, it runs fine but almost closed, its like its not getting enough fuel, someone installed a inline fuel filter on it, i put new one on ,clean the fuel strainer, clean lines i did all of this before even trying to crank it, i have been paying attention to the intake pipe that is on top off the carb, and it was frosted up, YES FROSTED, guestion is ,,Do you think the inline fuel filter is letting it not get enough fuel? Why would the intake pipe right above the carb frost up while running? it has a zenith carb, could it be sucking air and freezing up? and that would explain why the choke has to be almost closed to run ,,, ANY THOUGHTS LOLOLOL Waldo in arkansas

If you have adequate fuel flow to the carb then there is still a problem in it. I have seen inline filters on occasion restict the fuel flow enogh to cause problems but if you are running a full line of fuel with the line disconnected you are ok. Did you disassemble the sediment bowl completely? I have seen many plugged up down in the shutoff valve and fuel just kinda dribble out the line. Did you adjust the carb after installation, back the main jet way out and see if it gets better or goes rich if you havn't already then take it back in till it takes throttle without stumbling and doesn't smoke. I'm kinda leaning toward the metering jet down in the bottom of the carb having a piece of crap still in it if the carb was not COMPLETELY disassembled and each part and passage check to make sure its clear. Rebuilt means different things to different people, to me its total disassembly and reassembly with float setup. mEl

Well I guess, i had a tractor mech, redo the carb for me, i still dont understand the freezing up part, i did drive it around today but had to tie the choke at a certain place, lol, any way i have decided to go ahead and sale it thanks ,, Waldo
