Case IH Mower Conditioner

Just bought a Case IH 1590 mower conditioner. Basically the same as a 1490 and 1190 just wider. I am looking for tips on setup and usage, basically what to watch out for. Also, it has roller made of laminated rubber disks, typical of other IH mower conditioners that I have seen, but unlike NH or JD. Are these rollers okay or problematic? Thanks.

The conditioner rolls you are describing are known as "Ticor"; they are made from recycled bias ply tires. They used to be popular on certain brands but have fallen out of favor, partially due to cost as a solid rubber roll is less expensive to produce. I have heard that they do stand up to rocks well.

Cut a hole in the middle of the bottom of the auger to let the dirt out that is the main problem with them the auger would fill with dirt and stop working. We had two both where good.

Actually, the auger trough is rusted through in the center. Do you think I should just leave it that way to let the dirt out, or patch it?

Leave it I still have one, and it has had a hole since it was new. A lot of people had them when they where new most where caseIH, but a few had the new idea they where better then the 1160 hesston of the time.
