Case Letter Serial Numbers

There seems to be some confusion about Case serial numbers at the 1953 numbering change.

Before the 1953 change, Case used block number allottment for all their plants. Numbers could be used on Racine tractors, Rock Island tractors or any of the implement lines such as balers and threshing machines. Also power units.

The last of the -4 serial numbers were used on the on the 1953 VA series at Rock Island, with 57XXXXX

1953 D and LA series still used the 56XXXXX until the the new numbering system started in later 1953 models. 58xxxxx numbers were never used as the number site here indicates.

Tractors made in Rock Island after the number change were assigned 6XXXXXX numbers and tractors made in Racine used the 8XXXXXX.

The serial number lists I have been able to find do not include the early 80XXXXX numbers for 1953 D and LA series. The list starts at 8035XXX, so numbers from 800XXXX don't show up on this list.

Someone may be able to share more light on this and I will certainly bow to some with better facts.

Does anyone have a D, S or LA or 500 series with a 58XXXXX serial number?

You are right on the 900 serial numbers. 810xxxx was also used on the 400, 500, and 600 and maybe others made in 1957.
