Case mower pitman sticks

Does anyone supply them for a #7 or 10 mower? Balsters used to before they closed. I've been told to use a piece of hardwood from a pallet but it's hard to find a piece 48 inches long without defects. Is there anywhere down south that sells oak or hickory blanks. I do have one for a pattern.

Assuming you are in a hurry and can't wait to cut your own small tree and dry it , then trim to shape, you bould go to Lowes or Home Depot or whatever you have there and buy some high priced, clear, red oak. I have only seen 3/4 thick boards, so get some waterproof glue, enough clamps, and glue 2 or more pieces together, let dry overnight, then trim to shape. White oak is better but I haven't seen any in stores. Make up a couple of blanks while you are at it. Look for a sawmill and pick out some green white oak, or hickory if possible, and stack it up for future use. Maybe get the sawyer to cut you some boards thick enough for pitman rods so you won't have to fool with glue. Oil the boards to keep bugs out.

I don't need it right away as I have my 1000 IH to use but I bought a eagle hitch #10 last fall that I'd like to try someday. I wonder if ash would work, a friend has a sawmill.

I have a Case #10 and get pitmans from McNair. Its around a 42" stick, and I have to cut it down a bit, drill both ends to fit the hardware, and shave the ends to the thickness of the hardware.
