I just purchased a 1943 Case SC at an auction. The exhaust comes thru the hood instead of beside, can anyone tell me the history on this? I have been searching and coming up with nothing.

Jim, Case only made the center exhaust SC in early 1941. Very early 1941"s also had a smooth block as opposed to a ribbed block. Apparently smooth block had a tendecy to crack. therefore the "ribs" were added to give it strength. I have a 41 center exhaust smooth block SC considered to be a collector. Bob Lenz

I believe the block to be smooth but serial number on instrument panel is 4705503 which would be '43?
I am new to Case tractors and trying to learn all I can about this one!

Jim, If that's the tractor that came from Jack Maples Auction Saturday, you need to check the serial number on the bell housing. I belive it is correct and someone put the wrong tag on the tractor. You can have a new id tag made to match the bell housing serial number. You will know it is correct if the serial number begins with 45xxxxx. Not a bad looking tractor.

It is from the Maple auction. I grew up hunting on Jack's farm and close friends with the family. I bought the tractor for sentiment, and was surprised to find that it may be a rare tractor.
I plan to restore it and keep it in my family!
Thanks, I will check the bell housing for the correct number.

That SC from the Maple Auction is a 43 with a 41 hood on it. The hood is for a dual fuel and still has the starting tank in it. It has the ribbed block and the serial no. on the block matches the dash. I have a 41 that was made just after they changed to the ribbed block and exhaust out side the hood. The Sc at the Maple auction has split rims on the rear.

This tractor turns out to be a 41, the serial number on the block is 4501179.
Thanks for the info.
Where might I find out what the correct features were on this tractor for an original restoration?
Any help would be apreciated!

You can call or e-mail Rich Tworek for a copy of the build card. His contact information is listed below. You can have the correct serial number tag made for that tractor so the serial number tag and the bell housing number match. This would add to the restoration.I think Ed Axthelm sells them. His number is (419)864-4959.
