Cats n' D-con

While I've always been careful to keep poison trays out of their reach...will cats eat D-con (to their peril)?

Not sure about cats, but I lost a dog that way. Got into a space that dad thought was too small for him to get into.

Most manufacturers will post the lethality info on their products with respect to cats / dogs.. etc.

Some even list no secondary kill.. etc.

Usually, no, but every once in a while, one of em might try a bite, but theres always the risk of it happening. I dont belive it would eat a whole tray,, but it would be obvious if the tray was missing some, and the cat is on a wild trip, if not expired. Ive seen cats walk up to antifreeze sniff it and walk away,, so maybe they know something?? Best, if suspected of consupmtion, get it to the vet ASAP. Chad

I had a big dumb yellow dog ounce that was about as worthless as b00bs on a bore. I had one of them decon containers that are mixed with corn and whatever else that held a quart or more sitting in my pickup and that nott head got in there and ate the whole thing and i thot GOOD,,,well the next day it was digging around looking for more and it never did faze it. Go figure

Laughing at 4010guy, we have a stray dog that we've been waiting for an "accident" to happen to for a while. There's a deer in the ditch across from the house that it keeps going to, yet all the trucks keep missing it. Oh well.

My wife used that crap and she was always complaing about the smell in the house i finally got her to understand that the mice eat it and then run into the nest in the attic or walls and die. she finally quit using it and I don't have to hunt down dead mice anymore.

Humaine traps are easier, the ones that snap the mouses neck instantly. The ones sold as humain arent, it crawls in, the door closes, it is traped for hours until someone finds it, then its fed to a cat.

Why don't you take the dog in to the nearest shelter, or call animel control. Waiting for the dog to get hit on the road isn't very nice. stan

We've never had a cat eat the poison out in the barn, but the coon found it. They ate 1/2 the bucket. The next night they came back and finished the job.

Never did find any bodies from it, so I'm guessing it doesn't harm coons....
