I have a D4 with big engine stuck. Any suggestions on how to get it loose? DM

ooh, sounds like a hard one. Lots of atf in the cylinders first. then put a bar on the crank somehow and make it long enough to hang a 5 gallon bucket of water on the end of it. Then wait for a week.. ..or two ...or a month ..or a year!!

pb blaster works wonders on stuck motors. just spray it in the cylinders and let it sit then try and turn the motor by hand just dont force it it will come with time.

Why stuck? Just from sitting or was the exhaust or intake uncovered that let water or mice in?

If stuck from sitting with covered intake and exhaust, PB blaster will work.

If it's stuck from water or mice, you'll need a full rebuild anyway.

If it doesn't come loose in a month or so, you just as well bite the bullet and pull the head to see what's going on in there. Also, make sure there is no water or anything already in the cylinders before you use PB or trans fluid...

Just purchased cat,suspect it is stuck because exhaust wasnot covered. Started to pull head off. We will see whats inside. DM

I've found it at Wally World and auto parts stores.

If it's old enough, it might have a compression release. It will a lever on the backside of the head. Get some ATF, P B Blaster, Kroil, etc. in the cyls. and let it set. Trying bumping with starter and compression release open.

If I don't know the history, I always remove the head unless it comes unstuck very easily.
Open exhaust valve will probably be rusted if water has got in for any length of time. Could be a cylinder, or more,full of mud dobbers. Rings will likely be stuck too. Why was it left? Possibly needs repair on bottom end. I have had all these and others too.

Always worth the time to check it out first rather than have much more trouble later.
