Champion Air Compressor

A buddy of mine has an old Champion upright air compressor for sale..It's been apart for nearly 20 years now..He took it apart to transport it home ..Needless to say, he forgot how the line routing was...This is an older unit, estimated age probably 40 + years old..There is a diaphragm looking device mounted to the motor/compressor platform..One line comes from the back of the pump at about crankshaft level and goes to the top/side of the diaphragm looking "Gitchie"..There are 2 other threaded openings where lines that come back out of it ..Does anyone have one of these relics in their garage?? It's about 60 gallon cap. tank , 5 h.p. motor , twin cylinder in-line pump.. 2 stage...I haven't bought it till I hear it run..Thanks....

Do a Sherlock Holmes on it. Crankcase has to vent, head has to unload. Or maybe just wait for Roger, he might have worked on a similar pump.

I don't know what the diaphram thing is you mention but Champion is owned and made by Gardner Denver, gardnerdenver.com still making compressors today. You might check with a local electric motor repair shop that deals with compressors too as they can get OEM or aftermarket kits and parts for Champion.

That sounds like the one in my garage, they are a great old compressor. Ill take a look and see if your discription looks like mine. might be easier if I sent a couple digital pics.

Its a tank automatic drain. Vents every time the compressor shuts down. Line to the pump controls the unit. Other two lines, one is from the tank drain (on a champion is "bucket high" and not on the bottom) and the other line is the exhaust of the water/drain.

Go the the link URL and look at the horizontal compressor shown, click on it to enlarge it. YTMag won't let me link to the image for some reason.

Roy is it a model R-10 or R-15.MY model R-15 two stage two cylinder vertical pump is 30 years old and still works great, never have put a wrench to it other than oil changes.I have the owners guide with schematics if I could be of help.Mark

I got busy welding up a Case skid steer quick-tach for loader buckets..Had to make it fit a FNH 345D loader for a buddy of mine...Now back to the Champion compressor , I found a remnant of a steel tag that appears to say Model; TUV and some hammered numbers behind the TUV..Anyone got one of these????

I found that this diaphragm looking device is for the automatic tank drain..The dip tube was junk , so I pulled the tube and diaphragm and installed a bottom drain.. Thanks all for responses..
