change tires or quit pullin

Seems alot of pulling clubs are changing rules. I have a tractor that pulls with 15.5x38s and was able to pull 3 times a night 4500,5000,5500. Rule changes came now cant pull in 4500 with 15.5x38 got to have 13.6x38. Or pull once in 5500 againest alot bigger cube and heavier tractors. Question try to spend the money on new ones or pull with the big tractors knowing your not gonna get anywhere or sell out and quit. what what would you other fello pullers do, some of you might have already went through this, just sitting here thinking about it and thought I would ask?

I think you forgot to add, move up to a different Div. or class, however you'd like to say it, but that means spending more money. The tire rules have been a sore subject in all clubs. The bad thing is that when one person leaves one friend or more go with him and that means less pullers for the club.

What"s your address/ I"ll send you a Whaaaaaaambulance! Most pulls go by the natpa tire chart in divI and II classes and have been that way for quite a while. Maybe some local town pulls don"t have any tire limits and that"s fine too, but you can"t have it your way all the time either. First off, most 4500lb tractors in those divisions arent able to handle that big of a tire anyway and if they could then those guys would have to buy bigger tires to be like you. What"s the deal? OK for them but not for you? Besides, you can still pull 5000,5500 classes in div I&II, then pull 5500 in one of their farm classes if they had one. HEY, that way you wouldn"t even have to do any extra work by re-weighting your tractor that doesn"t belong in the 4500lb class anyway. Think about it! WAH! WAH! WAH! WAH!

why is their always some critical jack;;; to pull a trigger i was sitting looking over rules and different ideas and trying to get some feedback from seasoned pullers on the decisions they made.

It's a dilemma Everyone has.I pull mod 4 mph 3500 to 4500lb with 18.4 tires, USAP rules. If I want to go South to Ky. they just let you have 16.9 tires in those classes. Where I live Southern Il. they have a 6mph speed limit in mod, I'm not to competitive at that speed, and not very many tractors in those classes. Some places will let me pull farmstock, with 15.5 tires. some won't (front end isn't stock)I would like to pull north of me. but I need a set of full cut 15.5 tires or 15.5 not cut at all. I have some top cut 14.9's See Wah Wah Wah It's that way everywhere LOL Vic

Thanks TATER.As most clubs do go by natpa, ours does not as we are 20 yrs older than them.As far as the tire sizes go it helps keep the c.i.d. thing under control, lest you think we are all yahoos please feel free to show up @ sigourney and we can talk and maybe enjoy one together.

Nothing critical about it. You might get 100 different responses to your post, but the bottom line is that you're either going to pull or not and your going to do what ever YOU think you want to do. Not what somebody else says, so don't whine about your tires. Just figure out if you want to pull or not. Like the other guys said; Go to have fun. You can already see that you can pull in more than 2 classes if you want to. Simple,,, If the pull rules don't suit you; go somewhere else. Easy as 1-2-3

you dont need all these tire rules for div 1 or 2. if it is going to be a stock class just stick to the stock rpm chart with 10 % over and go with a 3 or 3.5 mph speed limit and you will kill all the tractors with the big cubes and hp. we pulled at arden last oct and they had a 4 mph stock class and no rpms limit and those big cube motors was taking off spinning the wheels and then when the horn blew they slowed them down. if the rpm rule was there and no tire size it would make it alot closer for the stock tractors.

I agree with both of you. By his own admission he's running a 5500# in 4500# class with the only change being loss of weights! 15.5 X 38 in 4500# class? They should very well change the rules. Should be even less than the 13.6,s should be 12.4 in 4500# or lower. Reminds me back in dirt car racing when a "hobby stocker" could just change his tires and run in "street stock". 400 hp and 10 yrs experience against 200 hp an newbies with automatic trans! Yea , that's just lots of fun there. When "stock" is just what it says, then the "just for fun" people will come out to play.

our club allows no bigger than 13.6 up to and including 6000 farmstock and no 9 bolts on tractors that didnt come with them but a lot of other pulls around dont enforce there rules so your uncut 13.6 tires on cast centers will pull against someone elses 15.5 tires on 9 bolt wheels i took my 13.6 and cast centers off in favor of 16.9x34 on 9 bolts i can still pull in farmstock in the brush pulls but i will just bump up to the next division in our club pulls

This how we do it up north !

Maximum rim width of 10 inches will be allowed in the 2,500 lbs. class, 11 inches for the
3,500 lbs. class, 12 inches for the 4,500 lbs. class, 13 inches for the 5,500 lbs. class, and
14 inches for the 6,500 lbs. class. Maximum tire width of 12.4 for the 2,500 lbs. class,
13.9 for 3,500 lbs. class, 14.9 for the 4,500 lbs. class, 15.5 for the 5,500 lbs. class
and 16.9 for the for the 6,500 lbs. class.

well if its stock class should be stock size tires! And something you need to think about is usally changes are for the crowd watching not the puller, how much fun is it to watch the samme tractor 3 classes? Most places have changed to the tractor can be in 2 classes! And have class for over size tire and modified farm stock!
