Yes, veggie oil, as well as lard, can be processed to burn in diesel engines. It cost more than $.46, but we are at a price that may very well justify using it. Besides, using any food staple to replace petroleum, increases the cost of food going to OPEC nations, which is a very good thing. Veggie oil will power our trucks and tractors better than sand will feed the oil nations.

It can also be made from by products, cast-offs from the food chain, which will make it even more economical. To me the energy solution is a menu of ideas ranging from solar to wind to ethanol to diesel made from waste tallow rendered from dead cows which are getting harder and harder to dispose of anyway.

In Wisconsin if they catch you running veggie oil in your vehicle they hit you with a per gallon tax equal to or more than the road tax on gas or diesel. Plus a penalty if you haven't been reporting how much you've used. For off road and tractors they dont yet, but I'm sure they will find a way to make it impractical, too much for the government to gain by keeping us locked into fossil fuels as long as possible.

So does this use waste cooking oil from restaurants? If so, forget it- all that has been snapped up long ago. If you buy veg. oil to make it, and it's significantly cheaper than diesel, it might be worth a look.

At some point, ethonal will demand a return to the carburator. Take a 1966 250 cid Chevy engine. The carb will pass almost straight alchol without problem.
