If you haven't looked lately there are 2500 tractors coming up for sale in a single auction, or should I say same location. All collectors should make sure none of these important pieces of history go to the smelter. There is almost everything there that has been manufactured from the last 150years or so. Everything from parts to whole tractors. I would like to know how a guy could afford that many tractors? I have trouble enough with the few I have. Any information on the owner and how he acquired this many tractors is just as important as the machinery itself.

I think the auction has been mentioned on here a couple of times...

I was at a sale near Goodland KS a couple of years ago - the guy had about 120 tractors for sale - and I know the Bridgeport folks (the ones you are talking about) hauled off several semi loads from that sale...

Been discussed before and the fellow aquired all those through a junk business, he bought and sold parts and tractors and had a big scrap yard.

now thats cool. 2500 tractors, imagine all the acution scumbags you could pick out of the crowd :-(

Its owned by the Gary Phillips estate. He ran a huge tractor and combine salvage yard for many years.

He was in an area where the older stuff was easily available in to modern times.

I can't even imagine how it must be a terrible headache to guard all that!!!!, all those super rare parts out in a field that would fetch a fortune would be mighty apt to grow legs, it would require 24/7 security.

When that huge supply hits the market next year, it should depress value of all our tractors for several years. It looks like it might hit 2 cylinder John Deeres the hardest.

On the other hand, by the fourth day of the auction, the scrappers will be the only buyers.

He had an auction in Taylorville, IL over thanksgiving weekend, there were a lot of pretty sharp looking tractors sold for some pretty big bucks there. With the prices on some of the tractors, I was afraid to even look at them, some sold for more money than I make in a year. He always seems to draw the big money crowds. So, I hope scrappers get lost on the way there.
