Chisel Plow for Old MM

Hi: Does anyone know if it is possible to find a small chisel plow sized so that a UB gas can pull it? Did any equipment manufacturer make one small enough? Thanks!

Years ago when I was young dad sometimes used his brother's Graham-Home plow. It was a size good for a 3 plow tractor, I'd say about 7 feet wide. It was trailer type, had 2 manual lift handles (no hydraulics). You could probably google that brand of plow and see one, probably hard to find now. Other than that you could start with a bigger one and remove some shanks?

I used to have a Graham-Hoeme plow that I pulled okay with a 55 horse Super M. These are not too bad an implement except that they have no trash clearance meaning that they plug real easy. They'll do a job, but nothing like modern chisel plows. Uncle had a 5 shank Soil Saver that he tried to pull with a 560, went sorta okaaaay but you could stop the tractor anytime if you tried to go just a little deep.

The John Deere 100 chisels can get down to 10' and still cover the wheel tracks on the digger. 10' may be a bit much for heavy tillage, but neibhbor use to pull 10' with his UB, seemed to do just fine.

I pull a 12' 100 in front of a 14' drill, but I am running close to 6.5 mph in the field. Good diggers and there are quite a few still around at auction sales.

Dad use to pull a 24' 100 with the Plainsman.

Dad and my uncle use to have several Graham Hoeme diggers, but all had been converted to hydraulic lift. They combined two of them togeterh to make a 22'. The other picture is a picture of one in the weeds. Heavy frame, but if I remember right you had to take the frame apart to get the shanks off. Not a real heavy spring and like said they weren't real good for heavy trash because of clearance.
