Christmas Tractor Thoughts

Hi Guys
A little late I know but Happy Christmas to everyone.Just spent the last day or so with family and friends doing all the usual things like exchanging prsents, eating and drinking too much, great time for all involved. The greatest part of all though is having some quality time rather than the usual pressure of working life. I remember when I was growing up on the farm and Christmas was just another day as animals didnt know they shouldnt need fed and watered on this special day but now its all different as I now have an office type job. So why am I and so many other guys so interested in old tractors? Well what started it for me I think was the sight, sounds and smell of the old Fordson N along with a Grey Ferguson we used on the farm (a whole 60 acres). Later it was the sounds and sights of models such as the Fordson e27n Perkins 6 cylinder diesel, Field Marshall and MM with the Dorman diesel that were used by our local agriculural contractors. On leaving school I lost interest in tractors and went to build ships for a living. Years later I went along to a local vintage show and found myself interested once more. A tractor was needed and eventually I purchased an International B450 befor moving onto an Allise B followed by a Fordson P6. In recent years I have become interested in big American and Canadian diesels which I have purchased and brought back to Scotland. I now have a fairly varied collection but I am still trying to reach the end of my imaginery shopping list much like other tractor enthusiasts. Are you guys interested in machines from other countries or just your own manufactures?
Anway that my brief story, so what excuse does evryone else have?
My son is now showing some interest and is looking for a Fordson e27n Perkins 6 cylinder diesel or Ford County, does anyone have either of these for sale even a none runner but complete example? Please contact me if you know of anything that might be suitable.

For me,it's mostly Oliver that I'm sentimental about. I got an 88 pedal tractor for Christmas when I was 18 months old. I spent a good deal of my childhood sitting on my Dads lap on his model 66. Wondered why we couldn't have an 88 like my uncles had when he was here with it once a year filling silo,or another uncles Super 55. I had my other Oliver toys. Started buying the real thing when I was 14. Drove my first 77 home 150 miles at that age after I bought it at an auction. I'm in my 50s now,still farm with them and I'm consious of just how much they mean to me every morning when I use a couple of them to feed cattle.

I want every Leyland tractor I've ever seen, and a couple of MH 444's and an Oliver or Cockshutt 770 and a .... you get the picture.
When I just had the farm nicely started, I was doing 350 acres with a 65 horse gas tractor and 60 gallons of gas a day was/is ridiculous, so I was able to buy a Leyland 255. I loved it but there were too many acres so that gave way to a Coumnty Super 6 and the engine went bang and a 5200 Ford appeared.
There a 482 in a sale a while ago,... sigh.
Severe lack of shekels limits my collecting.
The Pretty One dictates I can't look, but don't touch, where have you heard THAT before?

When I was a kid. My dad had a couple of tractors that a few times I got to ride.
Since then I have always had an interest but it never went anywhere till now. For my wife bought me this Long 610 DTC tractor with front loader as my Christmas gift.
Was just outside tinkering with a rear light that did not work. "Works Now" hee hee Good ole sand paper and time.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Arizona USA. I was raised on a Farm with it's first Tractor being a UC Allis Chalmers and it's last being a D21 Allis Chalmers [my dad's pride and joy before passing away] but I have alweays had a warm spot for a "Field Marshall" after seeing one at hearing it run at the "Pontiac ILL. Early Day Steam show a while ago. They are an oddity and I have been attracted to odd Tractors for a long time.JC

I grew up on an Allis B, and it's sitting in my barn now. We also had John Deere, and the rest of the family and neighbors had Farmalls. In my youth you were expected to run whatever anyone had when you were helping out, so I ran them all. I have no real preferences, but you can't beat the sound of an old two-cylinder John Deere under a heavy load on a dark night. Fire about 18" high from a straight pipe. Maybe that's why I can't hear my wife very well? Just a side benefit.
