classic diesel class

Just wondering why they dont start a classic diesel turbo class there seems to be interest in the diesels,im talking 58 and older maybe even a four cylinder and 6 cylinder class. They could limit cubic inches. rpm, and turbo size just a thought.

Why 1958? Are you afraid a 4010 or 4020 will kick your butt? 1970 was 40 years ago. It s way past time to include tractors 1970 and older.

I agree Over in In. they are pulling the newer tractors in mph classes. I,m not sure about the rules but, I think they went 8mph and 10mph. But I rember that a 970 case without a turbo won. So balance still played a big part.

guess ill explain it a little better im talking about tractors under 50 horsepower that can run a turbo and i dont think a factory 80+ hp tractor should be allowed to pull with them theres bigger classes they can pull in. im talking about UB moline Farmall m and 300 and 400 series john deere 70 diesels case 500 case 800 etc

A lot of people in our area are abandoning the (70, M, UB, 500) 50 hp. class and are starting to pull the real classic tractors from (4010-4020, 806, 970, 1800)85-100 hp. diesel tractors with turbos allowed, and running a speed limit to control the horsepower range. You are getting into an age of pullers who grew up around the 85-100 hp. tractors. There are a whole host of classes for the antique's, but not so many for the real classic diesel tractors.

Its hard to understand why clubs dont ever change their years everybody has their reasons. I would think a speed limit would basically eliminate any safety problems of pulling bigger tractors. This isnt NTPA and its just for fun so why not let 60"s and even maybe early 70"s pull. Alot of us grew up on these tractors and it would only spark other peoples interest and draw more people in and more money for clubs. Just my 2 cents

Then why keep old archaic rules to 1958? Open it to 1970 or 1975 and we ll see. But the IH mentality has always been "keep them 4010-4020s out of here cause we can t beat them". Wish I had a dollar for everytime I heard that and have seen 460-560 pullers quaking in fear that a 4010 might show up. That s fear in it s purest form old supermpuller! Put your money where your mouth is!

now you are getting silly.
1970 would be well past the intro of the 407 and 1971 was the intro year for the 400 series, an engien that JD has still not figured out how to beat on the track.
Only a JD guy would brag about a 90hp tractor beating a 65hp tractor.

alot of people around here stopped pulling the older diesels like ub and cases for the simple fact they cant compete with the newer tractors. Just thought it would be nice if some of those tractors could be brought out of the fence rows. I really think a stock older diesel class with factory cubic inches only allowed would get more people involved if a person could buy an older tractor turbo it and go pulling and not have to pull a 45-50 horse tractor against a 80-90 horse tractor.I agree there should be a newer classic class but you shoulnt have 58 and older pulling against tractors up to the 70s
