Cleaning greese from tractor

What do you guys use to clean greese and crud from an old tractor that has accumulated lots of dirt and oil from many years of oil leaks? Other than scraping it off.

I use a product called Biosol 610 (its a enviro-friendly degreaser) and sunlight liquid dishsoap. Couple cups of each in a 5gal pail top up with water. I found it works really good.

If it"s really thick your best bet is to start by scraping and work from there. If your not worried about the paint oven cleaner works great for cutting off the old baked on oil and grease. For the normal stuff I"ve always found Grease Gone to work pretty good. The thing that will help more than just about anything else is to have a hot water type pressure washer. Good luck.

Steam from an old Steam Jenny and caustic cleaning compound mixed with water in an old soda fire extinguisher..I used to have some real kick butt caustic cleaner that I bought from my " bolt guy "...It turned a swing post on an old Deere 310 I was working on to the nicest pitty tink you would ever imagine...

for the old baked on grease pretty much scraping , a steam Jenny or a scaler are best. Perhaps all 3 .

Manual removal with scrapers.. and cleaners of choice:

oven cleaner ( will remove paint (w-r-p)
simple green,
purple stuff ( w-r-p )

Pressure cleaner for -SOME- areas where there are no seals to blow in.... etc..

I soak that junk in kerosene and even pour laundry detergent on it. Then I take a pointy tip on a pressure washer and give 'er 'ell.

I find Varasol helps to soften some stuff up.... after that it's a pressure washer. Steam Jennies are best... but I'v ehad good luck lately with the turbo nozzles on the pressure washer.

Had a fellow come to a John Deere meeting last year and he was showing us how good E-85 gas works to clean things up. I haven't tried it but the fellow seems to be having good results.

One of the few things I have found that WD 40 is good for is removing grease from the tractor frame. Seldom see Schafer spelled that way. Know several that have the same spelling.
