I've painted my 58 Case with Tisco Alklyd Enamel paint and am not sure if I would benefit from applying a laquer clear coat over top of it. I'd like to keep the paint looking nice. The tractor is barn stored but is also a working tractor.

Will I get any benefit out of applying a lacquer clear coat?

You better do a small test panel on that first. That doesnt sound good.I think you mean uro not lacquer.Might lift the enamel right up.

The Eastwood Diamond Clear Coat for wheels will help with fade and scratches. Kinda pricey but will lay over enamel. I used it on Rural King tractor paint three years ago. The tractor has never seen a day inside after being painted. I will take a picture this weekend and post it. It has never been washed or cleaned either. Lacquer will normally lift enamel unless the paint is several years old and put on in thin coats and let dry totally before another thin coat is applied.

Yes laquer will crinkle enamel. Also , laquer and acrylic laquer both have to be buffed out to get a shine. That's the way they were designed to be. That's why buffing is such a lost art now-a-days. Back in the pre-'70,s , quallity shops that had to match panels used acrylic laquer and everything had to be buffed to shine. Laquer hazes down when it dries. Acrylic laquer was used a lot for custom paint jobs but the deep look came from sanding and buffing. It didn't look that way out of the gun. Just buff out the enamel you have and keep a good wax on it or keep it inside.

The picture really does not show much but it has only a slight fade and still has shine without any attention and outside every day year around.
