i have two old clipper cleaners that was my dad"s and had not been used in 40 years or longer that i know of. i am only 40 myself so i need some help. what way does the fan turn? i have it going clockwise as you are looking at it from the pully side. what isw the difference between a 1b and a 2b? what size motor should i use? i am using a 1/2 horse i think it is to big . would a 1/4 work ok? any info would be great. thankyou so much.

My recollection is as follows. We ran the upper shaft clockwise and used a flat belt with a twist to drive the fan shaft so it turned counter clockwise looking at the pulley end. The number 2 was larger than the number 1. We used an old 1/4 hp split phase motor on a number 1.

Simple, the fan should shoot out the far end away from where the seed is placed. That would also make it throw the air (over) where the seed exits the cleaner. If you need any parts, I have a few that will never be of any use to me.

We had a no.2B which is the bigger one. Between my Dad and me we used one about 60 years. The fan has to run counterclockwise facing the fan pulley. Then it will shoot the air directly up the air schute and through the stream of grain as it falls off the end of the sieves. The belt needs to have a twist in it so the top shaft runs clockwise looking from the same side. Then looking from the other side the shaft and motor would be running counterclockwise. In case I am mixed up on my sides, I do know for sure that the fan has to turn so it throws the air directly up from the bottom. Going the other way the air would want to go around again. We had a 1/4 HP motor on it and worked perfect. In fact it's still on it.
