clutch adjustment on 2000

I need to know is there a adjustment for the clutch ? I can't shift gears unless my idle is all the way down, it just grinds. Thanks in advance Mike

Yes there is an adjustment for the clutch.Not really familiar with the 2000 but it should be the same as the 5000.There is a long rod on the left hand side of the tractor where the clutch is located.There is a turnbuckle there on the rod adjust it that way.There might be a jam nut so losen that first then adjust as need be.Are you sure your clutch plate isn't going out?That could be most of your problem.

I don't know for sure, I recently bought the tractor and it has some other minor issues I need to address when I get time. If it is the plate how big a project is that ? Is that something I can do with a little work ? I'm not real fond of mechanical work with things I don't know, but wiiling to try. Thanks Mike
