Clutch kit for Super A

I found out today why I can't get my Super A into gear - 2 of the pressure plate fingers are lying in the bottom of the tractor. I looked at the kits sold on this site and there are two available - one is listed as containing a spring loaded clutch plate, the other a solid clutch plate. Both kits have all the other stuff for a complete change out of the clutch components. Both say replaces both new and old style clutches. I don't know what is in the tractor at the moment but expect to have it split tomorrow. Why are there two styles of clutch plates - one a newer design? Is one recommended over the other?

On a tractor the size and HP of a Super A, I sincerely doubt you will notice any difference between the two types. Indeed the spring type is supposed to help with smoother engagement, but that would be more noticeable on large, high-hp, heavy tractors.

Really either one will be fine for you. Pick the cheaper one. Pick the one with less moving parts. Up to you.

Why they offer multiple different ones? No idea. I'm surprised that they do.
