CO-OP Combine

COOP combine made by Cockshutt. We had 2 Cockshut SP112's - one with duals like this one and one with large flotation tires (actually old surplus bomber tires that were available after WWII.

They were a rugged old combine, made heavier than the Massey Harris 21A's. They had a really slow road speed for transport. If they were maintaines properly they were a good combine for the time.

One problem that we had was poor starting when the engine was warm - until we figured out that the battery was grounded through the bolted-together frame. I ran #8 yard wire from the battery to the starter mounting bolt and the engine would start right up even when it was hot.
