Cockshutt 30

I have found a Cockshutt 30 in the woods price is right would it make a good puller, would it be worth while to build up the engine. Thanks Mike

We have a 30 that we have been pulling for about 3 years in stock classes 3.5 MPH. Overbore kit pulling cam, electronic ign, pulling carb, 13.6 rubber. Does very well in 3500-4500# classes. Toughest competition seems to be the Oliver 70's.
We also pull a 35 and a 570 Diesel. Have won lots of trophys. It's all what you like, we like Cockshutts.

you can build the engine up some but there's not a lot of room to go real big on the engine. i think it's the same as the 40 engine with two cylinders less (same basic block, same bore & stroke).

The 30 is a tough little tractor and does a good job in 3500 to 4500 stock type classes. Be sure it has the high/low splitter, not all 30's had that. As for building, Cu.In. is very limited and not a lot of HP gain. They are not fast, but will craw to the top of there class. A few of them in my area and they all do very well in the stock type classes. I had one for about three years and I won more with it then any of my other tractors I've had. Parts are not hard to find and they don't break the budget.

Mike,We took a lot of stuff off and tried to get it down to 4500 but just couldn't with 15.5 rubber. Mine is a narrow front. So we start it in 5000#.Have not pulled it too much but hope to this year. It has upgraded 226 engine.

J. is right the 30 has a 153 Cu in Buda-the 226 is an upgraded version of the GO 198 hercules found in the 35.It was bought new from Hercules a few years back.

I was reading your responses to your question abt the cockshutt-30, I been running a 30 for about 10 years now and not to many people know they made a
4b182 motor, the same motor as the 50 less 2 cylinders, bored block can go 30-40 over no problem, the put the 30 head back on with some nice chevy vorteck valves ans springs, and all the other goodies and no problem with the 77,s
