cockshutt 770 production

I know that Cockshutt offered a checkered board grill 770 in '63, was that the first 770 offered by Cockshutt or was there slant grill 770 Cockshutt similar to the early Oliver 770s?

If tractordata.com is right they made them from 1958-1967 but I don't know if that's right, that also says the made them in wheat land, high crop and orchard. Someone will know as for the slant grill I'd say yes as I can find other cockshutt that have it. Here's one that looks pretty original.

not in cockshutt colors until 63 though as cockshutt had thier own line 500 series and did not source ANY tractors from oliver at that time until they were bought by white and they did away with cockshutt tractors and just painted oliver tractors cockshutt colors to keep customer base

The bar grills were used till January of 1963. With that being said there were Oliver/Cockshutts made in 1962. Going by memory here but I think the starting serial number was 141-000 or close to that.

The 770 Cockshutt came out at the very end of 1962 it used the bar grill through till the end of 63, the 64's and on used the checkerboard grill. I would have to look but I think the 1800/1900 came out it cockshutt colors earlier in about mid 1962.

send me your e-mail address and i will send you a picture of a 1963 Cockshutt made by Oliver . It has the bar grill , I've seen later ones with checkerboard grill and square top fenders.

tried to attach pictures to this reply in forumbut could not get it working

This is a 1963 770 Cockshutt. This model is "all " Oliver except for the paint and decals. This is a rather unusual tractor being a row crop, two speed and the wide fenders. This one does not have power steering. Sure fun to cruise around on though!
