i have a 1950 8N front mount distributor. just got the electric ignition conversion kit. i have everything set up except for where to mount the new coil. any ideas? thanks

I have a 1949 front mount that I converted to 12 volts and EI. I gutted an old front mount coil as shown on Hobos's web page and used a real oil filled no resister needed 12 volt round coil. I mounted the coil on the right side of the battery box and ran all the extra wires to the front through the spark plug wire tube. It made for a clean installation.

on my three ,I used the threaded hole on bracket just above and in front of the oil filler tube.wires still run down tube but i came out of tube over to coil and then back to dist.my reasoning for doing this (which may be totally wrong) was to get it as far as possible from gas cap.Im the worlds worse to spill gas while trying to fill one of these from a can.And I could see me spilling gas all over coil and then haveing the coil jump a spark!I try to make mine idiot proof, but since I'm generally the idiot that runs them its hard to do,LOL

I mounted mine on the alternator bracket.
