combine speeds

How fast will a 403 and a 715 IH combine go. I have purchased 1 of each and will have to drive home. I was wondering about how long it will take. 30 miles. Also can anyone tell me about how much gas I will need. I am going to scrap them after I pull the motors. Other parts will be available. They are in working condition. Thanks, Lee

Probably better figure on 3 hours I'd guess.

They'll clip right down the road at 15-17 mph, but it's dodgin' the darned traffic that is the bear. Without headers, job will be a bit easier tho.

Make sure the drivers are aired up good 'cause they can get to "bouncing".

Should be able to do it on 10 gallons.

my 715 showed 15 mph at full throttle, but i had to slow down to about 12-13 mph to keep from bouncing, like allan said. i brought it home about 30 miles with a 4 row corn head on it. most of the roads had wide shoulders, but there were a few tense areas between impatient drivers and mailboxes.
i need to either patch or replace the round screen by the radiator. i found one but shipping was a deal killer. how far from ny are you?

I just drove a 403 about 50 miles home. Had the header off. Right at 15 miles per hour. This was a belt drive. Got 3 miles to the gallon of gas. Was switching out 5 gallon gas cans strapped on the tool box, because the one on the combine was rusted out. Wasn't too bad, get to see all the junk in the ditches, sitting up there!!
