The 10 series had available an optional syncro transmission, a dual power that shifted with an electric button rather than a floor-mounted pedal, a PTO clutch that could be modulated into engagement, and finally a radically different hydraulic system that used closed center remote valves, along with an optional (at the time) 2nd engine-mounted pump for approximately double the hydraulic flow of the prior series. Pretty much everything else, including the engine, was carryover from the prior models.

Hydraulic systems can be problematic, make sure the engine lugs down good when you pull a remote handle back. Better yet, have it flow and pressure tested first.

Engines can cavitate and leave a pinhole in the cylinder wall, but that's all Ford tractor models of that era. And there's no way you can predict the probability of that happening ahead of time, other than asking the current owner how he maintained his cooling system.

ok Thankyou. The tractor is at a used dealer so I'm sure any answer other than he doesn't know would be a lie

Yes, a 7700 has a much simpler system that is less prone to problems. The primary downside is that it's slower (10 GPM vs 18). The 18 figure assumes the 7710 has the optional 2nd pump.
