compression tested

Changed the oil, filter, and sparkies in my 51 8n today and decided to check the compression.

68, 90, 80, 95 dry
70, 90, 85, 100 wet

Oil pressure is 40psi at full throttle and 30ish at idle. Lots of blow back out the oil filler. Been this way since I bought it early this year and I probably have 50 or so hours on it.

After the maintenance I did some plowing and disc'ing. Everything ran nice. Good power, etc. etc.

So my question is, with those numbers and symptoms, I got some engine work that needs to be done, but can it be done later rather than sooner?

Am I hurting anything if I do nothing? Like I said, other than the annoying blowback, it runs pretty nice.

Pour some ATF down each spark plug hole, and maybe it'll loosen your rings up boosting your compression numbers.

Like 2n4000 said,atf is a good thing to use,and I have used 2pts atf and 1pt sea foam for cleaning and general use on soaking the cylinders.Seems like the sea foam penetrates well.Whatever You do,don't get anxious and rush things,let it set as long as you can stand it[2 days]then watch out for smoke!You may help the blow-by as well.Good luck,---lha
