Corbit tractor.

Saw a corbit tractor today and it looked to have a simmalar trans and rear to a cockshutt 30.Had a leroi engine. The write up on it said there are only 8 left in the usa the rest were shipped overseas.

The Corbitt was made in Henderson North Carolina.
They were made 1949-1952 in three models G50,K50
and D50. The G50.which was gas was the only tested
at Nebraska.

That was the Corbitt truck co at Henderson; there's a little mention of the farm tractors in a thumbnail at corbitttrucks.com, which does mention they were "very similar" to a Cockshutt.
A little confusing to research as Corbitt had a habit of referring to their trucks as "tractors", as in tractor-trailer rig, which, of course, was correct.

I could not read the model. This one had a 176? engine and the trans ,rear and rear wheels looked like cockshutt. The hood and grill were way differant.I have seen pictures of them in redish paint this one was blueish and not restored.

Friends of mine have a Corbitt that has been in the family since new and never painted or restored. Color is a light green - Leroi engine.

Larry: Remember that rear end was manufactured by Timken and was also used by Sheppard. I can not think of it right now, but a man in town has a diesel. I think it is a Corbit. It also has a Timken rear end. I will probably run into him this week one day.

The rear looked like the same one in the long A or cockshutt 30. I have seen the sd3 shepard on the eastern shore and at the shepard show at westminister. Didn't realize they might be the same. The sheppard engines make them look bulky.

Its strange how they keep popping up. There use to be one near Henderson a collector had that had the original bill of sale and original tires, infact bill of sale stated sold new with use front tires. The rear to me looked like the same use in Long tractor. I was told by this collector 50 diesels were made and exported and 3 gas his being one of them. The other 2 gas tractor one in a NC junkyard and one in Indiana being restored. Several years later I see a diesel at a show and did not catch the owner but someone else told me it was brought back here on a ship.
