Cordless Impact Wrenches

Looking at Dewalt (because I have other 18V tools & charger), Snap-On, and Matco (because they service the shop I work at). SnapOn CT4850HO advertizes 400ft/lbs to the Dewalt DW059's 300 and Matco MPTL192WVS with 240ft/lb. Is there a misprint in the Snappy website, or are they really that far out in front??? Please share your experience with any of these units. I know the costs, but want to settle the performance question first.

yes the snap-on impact is the best one out there i can take lug nuts off a semi with it will break 1/2 bolts off i think it is worth the money and also the battery lasts a long time

I agree the snap-on impact is probably the best available!! ___BUT ___I bought one and have had alot of trouble with it!! It has had very little use and has NOT been mis-used at all. One of the batteries was faulty and caused the charger to melt, or so the rep says!! So far they have covered everything under warranty but it sure takes a long time to get service!! I dont think the batteries hold a charge as well as the older models!!

I'd like to suggest another one. Znex makes an 18 volt impact. Has 320 ft/lbs of torque. About 1/3 less weight than a Dewalt and the batteries hold their charge longer too. I own both the 18 volt Znex and the 18 volt Dewalt but I hardly ever use the Dewalt anymore.

I bought a MATCO 19.2volt cordless impact used from a pawn shop and I have used it a little. It will take lugs off of my 3/4 ton truck. It seems to be pretty strong for a cordless but I have never tried any of the other brands. I guess it just depends on how often you are going to use one and what you are trying to do with it. I have a older snap-on and love it, it'll take the lugs off my 3/4 ton all day with power to spare. Battery lasts plenty long.

I have the Snapon and it is no misprint. That thing is totaly awesome. I repair refrigerated trucks and trailers and use it daily with no problems. I've had it for 8 months. Rick

have a DeWalt, the larger one. There are two models that I know of, both 18 volt, one is smaller and lighter weight. I love mine, takes lug nuts right off on my tractors, pick-ups and wagons, keep it in my truck at all times. Always need to keep an extra battery with you, they do run down pretty fast.

I have an 18v cordless Dewalt impact and it works great. They have introduced a new (lithium ion, I think) battery that is backwards compatable with the older 18v stuff, but it does take a new charger. I havent tried one yet. I still have a fair amount of older Milwaukee tools, but quit buying new ones due to poor quality-hope they get straightened out. Kept snapping ends off their 110v corded impacts-they didn't like 8hr shifts.Last Milwaukee I bought was a sawzall-lasted almost 10 minutes before it quit. Most of the millwrights I know have switched to Dewalt-lots more yellow than red in the tool trailers these days it seems. I also have Dewalt cordless drills, circular and reciprocating saws and grinder. All work just fine.

I personally have a Dewalt and love it, but at work we have 6 Snapons. The Snapons seem to have a little more balls. Can't see much diff in batt life. Depends on your usage vs cost.

I bought the 18 volt Dewalt since I have other 18 volt Dewalt tools. It's great and has done everything I have asked of it. It is nice not to have to drag an air hose all over now!
