corn heads on pull types

Did any one [ asin manufactures] put corn heads on there pull type combines?

There where some made for the All Crop, and are rare. Also John Deere had them for their larger pull type. Not sure about International or MF.

here"s my AC 66 with two row corn head. 1150 heads made, to fit 312,000 combines- yes, rare. Would fit 60, 66, 72, or 90 models.

JMS/MN Would you concider selling the corn head from your combine? I have a 90 allis and have been looking for a 2 row corn head for it. I am in central MN. I do farm with my 90.

Sorry, but no. Have a friend by Milaca that has the only other one I"ve seen. Took mine to a show at Rose City a couple years ago- guy who checked me in said a neighbor had one in the weeds. Told my son, a member, get that guy"s name......so- send an email, I"ll get you in touch with my son, and he can check it out. BTW- found mine by Kelliher, next to Red Lake Reservation- they hardly have any corn there. Guy said his dad used it, parked it in the weeds about "72. I"m 4 hours away, he was a dairy farmer, and his milk comes to Paynesville, 17 miles from me!

Neighbor years ago modified a IH head to go on a IH 914 pto machine.

Why don't you look for a New Idea picker with a sheller on the back, plenty of them around the countryside.

 

[1923 Gleaner]

The first direct cut corn head was built by Gleaner in 1930. I have seen archive photos of atleast 3 different designs that were worked with before settling on the one manufactured. As I understand 1000 were built but 3/4 of those were junked at the factory. I have corn head #66 It seems that they didn't work so well with the moisture in the corn. I spoke with one man who did run one and he said it wasn't much of a corn harvester but one he11 of a silage cutter!

The head is setting in my shed and I don't have a photo to load but it uses 4 buzzsaw blades to cut the stocks off.

I had a good friend that worked for Gleaner in Independence and copied alot of archive material for me. When the move was made to Hesston much of this information was destroyed. Some of the heads of Agco are real clowns. One side note, the mounted Gleaner at the factory (1925 model) is painted silver and red. I told one executive that it is painted wrong and the "black iron" should be painted hunter green, the only red on the machine is the fordson wheels and the black iron under the cylinder. All other iron is hunter green, shafting and sprockets are black. He told me "we know that but we want to show the connection of Gleaner with Massey so we used sliver and red". What an idiot, change history to sell iron! So now days when someone restores a Fordson mounted Gleaner they paint them red. I know the one that sold in Ottawa, Kansas was painted this way because the guy seen the one at the Factory and assumed it was correct! Enough of my rant :?
