Correct wide front for a 60

There is no "correct" style. The Service Manual shows the round. The Parts Catalog shows both types, so take your pick and it won't be wrong.

Common trend to see a "window hole" rear wheel 60 with a round wide front and a late model 60 with a square front end. That's what would make sense in my head, but I doubt there was really any specific "break" as to when these front ends were used.

Despite what everyone says, Round is the correct answer. The square fronts that are "original" to the 60 and 70 were added by the dealer at a later date. Square fronts didn't come out until the "black dash" 20 series. The early 20 series used round wide fronts.

The parts books that I have for both the 60 and 70 disagree, they list both axles being available from serial number xxxxx1.

Actually the HD solid I beam casting the standard chassis uses looks best.
Those funny looking round wide front axles look awful ungainy and appear ready to break off. The square front axles are a step up from the round but still look funny.
