help me sell a couple mowers? I have no Idea how Ebay works (and I dont wanna learn). I have two mowers here for sale, and am pretty tired of starting them up every day to take down to the road. I only want $150 for one, meaning if it sold for $170 you could keep the change. Anyone interested? If so, please E-mail me.

Where are you located?

Might try Craigslist. They have sites for most big cities, check the state listing on the right hand side of the craigslist page.

Ebay is pretty easy to use. Especially for something like a mower that won't be shipped.

Im near dayton, OH. I can send you pictures, etc.
All you do is set up and run an acution for it. All questions go to me. The people pay in cash for it when they pick it up. I then mail you a check with whatever you made. (trust me, Im good for it)

Don't even bother with those on ebay ! I've sold some stuff on there and the only times I had trouble with non paying buyers/bidders was on lawn mowers and lawn equipment.

This is to be considered informative, not irritating. Almost all of us on here spend 80% of our time doing something to make money and or survive doing things that don't make money but must be done, (like watching the 2 foot corn turn yellow with no rain) so being 14 (so is my son) your time is much more likely to be well spent with an ad in the paper, or other sales efforts like tearoff sheets in the grocery, than ours is. Besides it is a learning moment (or two) when you find out what it takes to make money at a business. Setting up a repair business is great experience, but remember, school is first such that you are prepared for the tasks to make a business flourish. Good luck, JimN

Nope - not gonna work that way.

You have to do the dirty work of selling yourself. You will learn a lot.

Lawn mowers are a dime a dozen. No one will pay to ship it 30 miles, much less across the country. You need to sell locally.

Ad in the paper will cost you $5 or so.

Put a pic with phone # at the local stores' entryway - many allow that.

Make the $20 extra yourself.

What kind of mowers are these? What kind of engines? How old are they?

Reason I ask is that if there just some mid-90's piece of Wal Mart junk, then you're time on EBay might be wasted.

But if they're a little older, then they might be worth something to some folks. I was kid of surprised when I put a couple of old Bolens mowers on EBay awhile back. They appearantly have quite following out there.

Craigslist is free and it works if your lawn mowers are worth somthing. although i will warn you that people dont pay alot for lawn mowers in my area.

For starters, quit advertising on here that you like to do donuts and wheelies with them and maybe, just maybe you could sell one.

I'd sure work on either selling locally or using this as an opportunity to learn how ebay works. What you are wanting to make retail money. If I sell something for someone I sure expect to get a LOT more than 12%. I do sell some on consignment BUT 1. I hold the item, check it over, after all its my name on the line. 2. I charge 20% of final sale price and the seller gets the net and they pay the listing fee OR if I think it will remotely bring what they think it does and they want money now I'll pay 30-50% of wholesale (I know I know, thats pawn shop rates but what someone is essentially asking me to do is take it at pawn with me taking all the risk).

Wheel Horse, I've been able to sell. Last couple I bought I gave $250 for 2 nice ones ($125 each) and an extra transmission.. I ended up making $100 each on them which is about the least I'm willing to fool with them for.

Why no love for EBay? It's simple to use, and will probably get you the most exposure. I know a lot of folks complain about EBay, but since you're selling something that will have to be picked up, and not shipped, you're cutting out most of the hassle of billing and shipping.

Also, once you have an EBay account, you can search the "Completed Listings." This is handy, becasue you can look at what people have paid in the past for similar items on EBay. For example, a search for "Wheelhorse Workhorse" brings one that was sold July 25 for $311. A search for "snapper comet" shows 6 that have sold anywhere from $60 to $150.

Alos, if you're close to Dayton, try dayton.craigslist.com Probablly put it in the farm/garden section

I am assuming your Holland is a New Holland as Holland makes transplanters in Holland Michigan. Anyhow if you keep doing wheelies and mistreating it you will be wanting to sell it before long as it will be junk. Not to mention you may kill yourself fooling around like that. All machinery should be treated with the respect it deserves, as it can be and is dangerous when not used in a safe responsible manner. Quit fooling around with those victory wheelies and doughnuts and live to be an old man.
