Friend just bought a
Craftsman 1/2 in. Impact Wrench for nineteen some thing. Was on sale at half price from 39. 340 ft lbs. Model# 19982
My question is does sears still guarantee this cheap thing for life? No way it could be US made at this price, or could it. It says craftsman on it. Wondering what the deal is.

I too have a 1/2 drive Craftsman Impact gun and can you guess where it s made? China, of all places!!!! I would nt have guessed that (HA HA HA)

Saw a handful of wrenches with the Craftsman name at Ace the other day. Was a little suprised to say the least. What they had didn't look all that well made - kinda rough finish.

There was a time back in the 90"s that I-R made SOME guns for Sears. I don"t know if they still do. However, at that price, it could be an I-R gun made in China. They started geting cozy with China back in the late 90"s.

They never did have a lifetime guarantee on any tools that had more than a couple moving parts (pliers, adjustable wrench, etc.). Any power or air tools are probably more like a 90-day to one year warranty deal.

I have a Craftsman impact that is 25 years old. Back then Chicago Pneumatic made their air tools. Nowadays, you can be sure it's the same supplier for Harbor Freight...
