Hi there, I am having difficulty changing the tire on my mower, The bolt that holds the wheel onseems to have a keyway but I cannot figure out how it comes off as it is round instead of hexagonal. Anyone else have this problem? Thank you.

If this is a rear wheel, remove dust cover in center of rim(outboard side)clean upshaft/rim,check for an external snap ring at end of axle retaining rim,if none found, check rim hub on backside of rim,you probably have a roll/dowel pin going thru hub/axle retaining wheel,if so soak with pb blaster etc 5 min/more,with a pin punch/bolt slightly small in od than pin and hammer, drive pin out of rim/axle,rim may/may not have a sq/woodriff key tieing rim to axle, soak axle from both sides with pb blaster as much as posssible & try slideing rim off shaft(don't lose the key if rim has),this may take time & a few soakings as rim tends to seize on shaft with time/rust/dirt,DO NOT pound on rim/tire with a hammer,as this may bend rim,if tire a fr tire, remove dust cover & check for a center bolt/snap ring retaining rim.

All that work? I thought a flat tire meant you were supposed to buy a new mower.

Seriously, some of those things get rusted on there pretty solid. Changing the tire on the tractor works for some people.

my lt 1000 has the external smap ring on it. make sure you dont lose the key for when you get ready to put the rim back on, gotta put it back so you can move it.
