Not in my tractor... :)

Meaning to say I wouldn't want to use it. I'd say you'd be chasing good money after bad. Better off finding a good one or good enough to dust off etc.
 
Yes it can be, I heard Jim Benjamin was doing it but I also heard he had quit and isn"t doing it anymore. a good reputable welder can do it but it"ll have to be done right and then straightened, probably not cheap.
 
Not all cracks are created equal. Cracks along the length of the journal (typically through the oil hole) are not nearly as "dangerous" as cracks in the radius of the journal. I would not be terribly concerned about the cracks through the oil hole repair, but a crack in the radius even if repaired correctly is asking for trouble...
