Nope I dont need any crank shaft work done...Just wondering thou...I know they grind and polish the crank...But what about the rods...Lets say you spun a bearing...What exactly is done to the rod? Do they line bore the rods for over size bearings as well as the crank?? Someone has been there done that!!

Rod bearing do not spin in rods. they only spin and mar crankshaft and bearing insert. Solution. Grind crank undersize and buy new oversized bearings to fit undersize crank.

What they do is like line boring the block. They take the cap off and take off a few thousandths, then put the cap back on and re-bore to spec. Both my rebuilds have had this done.

hanks John...I know ya been thru a couple engines..

Bearing certainly do sometimes spin in the rod. I've seen it many times in my 60 plus years as a mechanic. Rods that have spun a bearing can most times be fixed if not too bad.

The large end of your con rod is spun in or is distorted and needs to be reconditioned. just as important as the crankshaft being on size.
The machine shop cuts the cap and rod at the parting and now it is egg shaped. Now they hone out the rod until round and on original size.
