Cub hyd up /down speed.too fast.

I recently bought a 73' or 74' Cub with one point hitch with a one pt grader blade. Hyd. works good up and down but is fast up and down.Also when I touch the lever to ease up or down it jerks .Is there any adjustments to slow the speed of the hyd. Bob.

An easy change would be to increase the length of the rear lift lever arm (the one that has the rod from the hydraulic system attached on the left side). A fabricated extension that would allow the arm to be about 30% longer. The piece could be bolted to the arm and tabs made below the bolt hole to prevent twisting/pivoting on the hole. This would slow down the speed proportionally. the lift height would also be reduced, so allowances for that should be made.

Restricting the hydraulics with a restrictor in the system supply would cause heating of the fluid (as the restriction would be before regulation) Jim

You can pinch down the flow to the cylinder with a valve in its supply hose. 1st link would restrict flow one direction and then no restriction the other. The one in the 2nd link restricts flow both directions so the blade my possibly drop to slow. This will not cause heating of the fluid.

Used Red....... Cub doesn't have a hose, it's metal lines. Million cubs out there. His has got to be a simple fix..... I've had cub hydraulic systems work on nothing but water. Bought a cub, tested everything, then did fluid change, was shocked to find nothing but water .

Not only are they metal lines, but they are just the suction and pressure lines to the pump... Pinching them off will just starve or deadhead the pump.

The cylinder, control valve, and "lines" on a Cub are all machined into the hydraulic block under the gas tank.

Wow one heck of a good way to trash out a pump and cause overheating . A Cub system is fast , if ya want to make it work slower work the lever slower , ya slam it forward it will drop fast , if ya pull it back fast it raises fast . Gee's guys learn to operate your equipment when i was a kid i borrowed 850 bucks off my uncle and bough a 1958 Farmall Cubby that came with a two wheel trailer a FAST HITCH one bottom plow , a fast hitch disc , a four foot spike tooth harrow , a Cultivator, a sickle bar mower , a ft. blade , two sets of rear weights and one set of ft. wheel weights , tire chains and a heat houser . Sure did not take me long to figure out that if i just mover the lever SLOWLY then stuff went up and down SLOWLY .
