Cub steering

Just a wild guess..... Out of gear oil in steering box? Or full of water and rust? Or never been greased? Got several cubs, all steer easy, but all have been greased, and have fresh gear oil in steering box

(quoted from post at 08:21:22 01/29/22) Why are so many Cubs hard to turn?
Cleaning, and a few drops of oil on the bracket the steering shaft goes through, directly behind the steering wheel can help. And as said, greasing the spindles. Easy places to start.

Good evening, Frank C: I would say it makes a difference what you are used to. If you have other tractors and they have power steering, then the Cub would seem pretty stiff. I have a 1958 Lo-Boy Cub and a Ford 9N, both (of course) are manual steering, and they seem about the same to me. Just me talking....

This fall I put needle thrust bearings in the bottom of my spindles. It is almost like power steering now compared too what it was, even with my snow blade on.
