cultipacker weight

does anyone know how much a 9 foot brillion cultipacker would weigh? theres a few at some upcomming auctions but i want to know if i can get one home thanks

Well it should not be a problem hauling it on a trailer. I dont know what the weight would be. As long as you use a good trailer you should not have problems. I would not use a light utility trailier though.

i'd be more concered about how to unload it when you get it home. i use to haul a 14 foot grain drill but couldn't pick it up all at once. i would pick one end of it up, back the trailer in under it and sit the tire down in a dolly. then i'd pick the other end up and back the trailer on in under the drill and set it down. being as wide as you are you might want to consider how to unload it as well, unless yo have access to a front end loader. my jd dealer use to carry replacement bearings for them in some of his old stock.

Our 8 foot Brillion Sure Stand seeder has the cultipacker-sized roller in front, and a smaller diameter covering roller behind. I would estimate the smaller roller to be 1/2-2/3 the size of the big roller, and the weight of the seed boxes to be negligible. That seeder goes about 2200 pounds. I would guess your cultipacker to be in the 1500 pound range. Maybe a ton.

Are you refering to the old style horse drawn cast iron single gang cultipackers with wooden bearings or the more modern multiple gang types ? I have a old horse drawn style with two end units making it 12' or 14' wide I think ( 6' or 8' main + two 3' end units ) . I bought it over a year ago but haven't gotten it home yet because it's H-E-A-V-Y Maybe a ton or so . I only have a light utility trailer and no way to unload it . It doesn't have any wheels just the cast packers . We tryed to lift it with an old Farmall H . It got it off the ground a little but it wasn't good so we stopped there . He's got a tractor that will lift it now but now it's frozen down so maybe this spring if we have time . I paid $300 for it . It's got the cast iron frames with the Brillion script cast into it with no repairs to the frames . It needs a wheel or two and a couple of the stars are gone also . But the frame is what I bought it for , if I can actually use it - well that's just icing on the cake ! ...Randy
