Knowing there’s a bunch of us here on well water like I am and I’m wondering what kind of water filtration/softeners ya’ll using? I got a Rainsoft which works good but the service or support system ain’t so great.

We have a Crystal Clear setup & like it. Don't know much of the particulars on it. There's the usual softener bottle & brine tank, with a second, larger bottle next to it that is meant to combat the iron in the water. Works excellent, but goes through the salt. Also haven't had an issue of salt bridging in the brine tank until this one.

Two keys to softeners in my opinion. Get the best valve you can (Fleck used to be it and mine is 30 years old). Get one that runs every X gallons in stead of a set time (every X days). Also, the media in the tank can be replaced if you feel it is getting saturated.

The reason I’m asking is I woke up to the water pump running which there was no reason except a leak or busted pipe. Finally heard water running from the tube that drains the system as it regenerates which means the plunger in the valve is stuck.
The last time it was a broke o-ring that had it bound up. Twice in 28 years, not bad.

Lakos cyclone separator followed by Suez Ultrafiltration and Titan Reverse Osmosis units, GE Water Electronic deionization followed by two levels of resin bead polishing demins. Takes water right from the Lake and purifies it so it will not conduct electric current. About 800gpm output.

Ours is a Peerless. Around twelve, fourteen years old. I don't know anything else about it but it has been trouble free for me so far...

Using UF and RO systems to provide water for a nuclear plant, right ? What is the intake
gpm to get 800gpm output ? Thinking your filtration would generate a lot of process water.

Typically 1300-1500gpm. We dont really have indication on lake water input as it mixes in a retention tank with system effluent recirculation, in a terrible design.

Aqua Treatment Services water softener. Regenerates based on volume. 10 years old and in process of replacing “the board”. No other issues prior to this.

5 micron particle filter on incoming water from tank.
