Cyclone air cleaner

You learn something new every day. Bought a oddball NOS Cyclone air cleaner many months ago just to get the original bail off it. Figured it must be for a Farmall or something. Just got around to looking at it. It was packed in newspaper from 1946. When I popped the jar and bail off I found the installation instructions inside. Could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw "how to install on your Ford-Ferguson tractor". Everyone is familiar with the 9N-2N optional air cleaner extension that goes up through the hood.

This Cyclone pre filter was made to attach on top of that extension tube in place of the regular cap.

Unless the CRS has really taken hold, I don't remember EVER seeing a picture of a 9N or 2N with one of these things on it. If had seen one I would have sworn it wasn't a Ford part. Does anyone own one of these or have you seen pictures of one on a 9N-2N?

Never seen one, but that is an example of why this hobby is so facinating. Never think you have seen or heard of 'everthing'!

I have one on my 41, 9-N. It is not like this one, looks more like a homemade one.
I will look for a photo or take one soon.
John , would you sell? Need one for my '39.

Joe, I imagine it will be for sale eventually, but not yet. I want to show it around to some of the experts. Check back with me next summer.

I see a handle/rod to the left of the breather under the hood. What is it for? Neat find btw.

(quoted from post at 19:49:33 12/16/10) Where in the world did you find that!!! Never seen one, I want one!!
I really don't remember if it came from the auction last spring in Pann Yann NY or from eBay. One or the other. Now that I know what it is I'll have to start watching for them.

Or you could put together a 2n and use it yourself. I don't believe you have one! You need a gray tractor in your barn.

I did add a silver/gray one to the barn this year. Does that count?

Cyclone made those for many makes and models of tractors. Have seen one like that on a Minneapolis-Moline. That should fit not only the Ford 9N/2N's with the optional extension, but also any tractor with a pipe that diameter. You've probably seen or have the Cyclone made only for the 9N/2N that sits completely under the hood and bolts right to the top of the air cleaner. This looks more like a universal type when you already have the extension through the hood.

like it! But, you should let me have it before you cut a hole in the hood for that Cyclone..besides that it isn't Ford, so you don't need it in there with all those Ns.

That is one fine lookin' automobile. I loved that body style then they ruined it a year or two later.
