D17 hydrolics

I have an International round baler.Can my D17 hydrolics be valved to run 2- two way cylinders or is it better to get a front mount pump? If so does anyone have a front mount pump for a D17?

AC's up until the series IV D-17's were high pressure, low volume and didn't match up with Int, deere, Ford ,etc. If you connect to a high volume, low pressure cylinder, you usually blow a hose connection or something. Can they be made to match up ??? Someone more knowledgable than me might know.

Yes, you can do it, because AC did offer the options on the hydraulics, with the 1-2-3 valve options- some low, other high pressure- but it would be simpler to add a front mount pump (front pulley should be drilled and tapped for a front pump)-and set the pressure relief valve for whatever system pressure you want to run.

It can be set up to run a two way cylinder fairly easily. But you have to remember it is still going to be high pressure and low volume. Large or long cylinders are going to run real slow because of that. You would be best off putting front pump on, or adapting another pump some way. You really need a good volume pump to run the baler.

My D17 is a series IV. Were all series IV not high pressure pumps or was it specific to a group? Also any knowledge of where to get a front pump?

Series 4 tractors had a 10.5 GPM pump in the old belt pully location. It was low pressure, 2000 psi. It should run your baler ok, although you might check and see just what GPM the baler was said to need. As far as I can tell, all series 4's were set up with that pump.
