d17 ignition

thinking about converting to electronic ignition but the ones I have found are for negative ground only. Can I use one of these kits or do I need to switch to neg. ground, and what needs to be done to make it neg. ground if its possible.

Check with Pertronix, I believe they make them for Pos or Neg ground, DO NOT wire one at opposite Polarity fer sure, it will let the smoke out... If you go with an elec ignition switch, to get the most bang for the buck and utilize all the advantage the switch has to offer, I would couple it up with a matched (check with Pertronix) suitable High Energy High Voltage Coil and run a wider plug gap for a wider hotter higher energy spark woooooo hooooooooooo..

The starter rotation IS NOT affected because it is not a Permanent Magnet DC motor. It is series wound. If you MUST use a generator, it can normally be be re-polarized as a negative ground unit. On my C-II I replaced the generator with a Internal Regulated Delco Alternator. You would have to swap the wires on the amp meter so it would read right
