D17 series 3

I have two nagging problems on my D17/3. The lift arms creep down and the power steering gets harder and harder to turn. Anyone have experience with either solution?

My only guess would be low fluid in either. Change the power steering and clean the plug thorougly before reinstalling. If it has been a while, I would also soak the filler in gasoline to clean it out as it doubles as a breather. As to the 3 point, check the fluid level. If it is milky because of water, change it. It is cheap insurance to change it anyway. Another possibility is the lever for raising the 3 pt arms. If it is loose, it might vibrate down and allow the 3 pt to sag.

If you don't have one, a D17 OPERATOR'S manual would be an excellent investment and answer many, many questions. I think the YTStore has them.

Re: the arms going down.
Could be the check valve in the pump/valve assembly not seating good...OR could be a small leak in the hose inside the lift housing.
If the rear end/transmission is gaining fluid, it's probably a leaking hose.

The arms will creep down over time. Every D-17 I ever had did the same thing. The older they are the more they creep. There is a transport valve that was an option that allowed the implements to stay up during tranport.
